Ludbrook House Newsletter
June 2011
Winter has barely been noticed here in Northland as the temperatures remain pleasantly warm.. For some reason this has meant that the lemon harvest has been later than usual and the new season’s preserved lemon production has only just begun. I can report that Ludbrook House Preserved Lemons will be available by early July.
The lemons, preserved in salt and pure lemon juice are very popular but can be replaced in most recipes by the Award winning Ludbrook House Pickled Limes
Ludbrook House will be at the Auckland Food Show this year in conjunction with Cuisine magazine and other Artisan Award winners. It is some years since we were last there and we will be displaying a selection of our products along with our award winning Ludbrook House Pickled Limes. Visit the stand and taste our new grape jellies and fruit syrups.
Ludbrook House is a Cuisine Artisan Winner for 2011. The award is for Ludbrook
House Pickled Limes and is very encouraging. In
three years that the awards have been given out we have won two, the other being
for Ludbrook House Dessert Figs in 2009.
We pick limes from our own orchard as with the figs and so my theory that
freshly picked and immediately processed fruit means adding an extra dimension
to the flavour of the finished product is very true.
Ludbrook House Pickled Limes have many applications and I know you will
enjoy using them.

‘Handmade at Ludbrook House’ stands for taste and integrity. Our core products of preserves, jams, jellies and condiments hold the essence of traditional preserving methods with the added value of the utilization of the beautiful fruit grown here in the Bay of Islands.
If you are travelling North, please call in.
Refreshments are available in the garden which is registered with the NZ Gardens Trust and our gorgeous shop is stocked with all our products plus some not found on the product lists.
We serve tea or coffee ( real china !) with a slice of fabulous cake and invite you to relax awhile and enjoy the view.
Best wishes
Chris Ludbrook
